YAMS & JAMS: Young Artist Masters Series / Junior Artist Master Series

YAMS and JAMS provide an opportunity for intermediate and advanced students to study closely with a college-level instructor in preparation for competitions or auditions.

The Student Recital provides an opportunity for students of all ages and levels to perform in a chapter-wide recital.

  • The Student Recital will be held on November 18, 2023 at Kent First Baptist Church

The Music Artistry Program (MAP), formerly Piano Adjudications, provides an opportunity for students to prepare and perform two polished pieces and receive feedback from a qualified adjudicator.

Chapter Honors Competition (CHC)

The Chapter Honors Competition (CHC) provides an opportunity for advancing students to perform at the highest level, competing for an opportunity to represent SKCMTA at the WSMTA State Conference.

Music Literacy Program (MLP)

The Music Literacy Program (MLP), formerly Musicianship Examinations, provides an opportunity for students to assess their knowledge of music theory through a proctored written exam.

  • MLP will be held April 29, 2023 at 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at Dr. Steve Nehrenberg’s Studio, 19503 122nd PL SE, Kent
  • Deadline: April 11, 2023
  • Fee: $7.50
  • Registration and fees are due postmarked to MLP Chair Steve Nehrenberg no later than April 11, 2023. Make checks payable to SKCMTA.
  • Please note, students arriving after 1:00 pm may not test. Testing time will conclude at 2:00 pm.
  • There are ten levels of testing available. The complete testing guide is available at www.wsmta.org.
